Steel prices in Kenya vary depending on many factors such as the brand of the commodity, the size of the rebar as well as the location and vendor selling the product.

Steel bar prices increase as one moves away from Nairobi where most millers are located.

Here are the average prices of deformed steel bars in Nairobi.

Deformed Steel Bars Prices

There are different sizes of rebars, represented as D8, D10, D12, D16, D20, D25, and D32 where D stands for diameter. The reinforcement bars are usually 40 feet long.

A spot check on various vendors has revealed the following prices:

D8 – Sh605, D10 – Sh920, D12 – Sh1,335, D16 – Sh2,325, D20 – Sh3,850, D25 – Sh6,875, D32 – Sh12,250, Binding Wire – Sh4,350 (25kg roll), Hoop Iron – Sh3,250 (20kg roll).

BRC Mesh

BRC is a welded steel mesh made of longitudinal (line wire) and transverse (cross wire) bars fused for use in the reinforcement of concrete foundations during construction.

The cost of BRC in Kenya is as follows:

A142 – Sh37,000

A98 – Sh26,000

A610 – Sh8,250
