Residential Projects
Chris Kirubi-Led Centum, Haco to Build 268 Homes in Kasarani
The residential housing project is estimated to cost Sh629 million.
Centum Development Company has partnered with Haco Industries to build homes in Nairobi’s Kasarani area in support of the government’s low-cost housing scheme.
The two entities, which are associated with billionaire Chris Kirubi, are seeking regulatory approval to commence construction of 268 affordable housing units on a vacant 0.496-hectare plot about 1km from the Mwiki-Kasarani road.
The development will be located near Haco Industries where Dr Kirubi serves as chairman, the DHL Logistics Company offices, Stardom Hotel, as well as the Ongata construction yard.
Dr Kirubi also serves as Centum’s non-executive director with significant shareholding – allowing him to exercise influence in the operating policy decisions of the company.
According to the developers, the project will involve the construction of three blocks of apartments consisting of ground and seven floors – sitting on 16,573 square metres of land.
The composition of the apartment blocks will include 42 studio units, 84 one-bedrooms, 24 two-bedrooms with window bay, 94 two-bedrooms with balconies and 24 studio lofts.
The amenities of the project will include a mini tennis and football pitch, a rooftop lounge, a borehole, and landscaped gardens to promote greenery and aesthetic value of the property.
The residential apartments will also have 120 parking lots for residents, 24-hour security including CCTV as well as controlled access; medium speed lifts, back-up generators, and high-speed Internet access.
“The project is estimated to cost Sh629,500,000. These include the actual cost of purchasing materials, labour cost and all miscellaneous expenses expected to be incurred in the implementation process of the residential apartment,” the developers said in filings to Nema.
The project comes at a time when Two Rivers Development, which is also associated with Dr Kirubi is planning to build 1,650 affordable units within the Two Rivers on Limuru Road.

Dubbed Mzizi Court, the project will involve the construction of fourteen blocks of apartments consisting of ground and 16 floors – hosting one-, two– and three-bedroom apartments.
The project is also meant to support the government’s highly ambitious plan to facilitate the delivery of 500,000 affordable homes countrywide by 2022 under the Big Four Agenda.
Wealthy developers are increasingly building low-cost houses to take advantage of a tax holiday and other sugary incentives offered by the State to boost the delivery of affordable houses across the country.
