Trump Shows Interest in Sh60bn Nairobi Golf City

American real estate tycoon Donald Trump has indicated an interest in investing in the multi-billion shilling Nairobi Golf City development.

Trump who has several golf properties around the world is among 43 other interested parties; including TPS Serena, Commercial Bank of Africa, Spencon International, Premiere  Flour Mills, and Associated Motors.

The proposed Nairobi Golf City will be located on two properties belonging to Kenya Railways and the Kenya Railways Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme; The Railway Golf Club on the east of Haile Selassie Avenue measuring 63 acres and The Railway Club on the west of Haile Selassie Avenue and bordering Uhuru Park.

The project will comprise a 100-room 5-star hotel, a 600-room 4-star business hotel, top-of-the-range exclusive cottages, a nine-hole golf course, a golf clubhouse with a modern gym and associated facilities, conference facilities, exhibition rooms, Africa’s first IMAX theatre, and adequate parking facilities.

Provision has been made for the future construction of a metropolitan rail terminal connecting the facility with Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and the rest of the city.

The bids for the project are scheduled for opening in one month and the US$600 million contract will be announced after technical evaluations.
