Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a non-profit wildlife sanctuary, has said that 57 homes in phase one of the Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate will be handed over to their owners next month.

Chief executive Richard Vigne on Thursday told journalists that another nine homes at the estate were almost complete and that the second phase of the project, comprising 34 luxury homes, was set to begin soon.

“The state has been carefully designed to give a unique opportunity to unwind in the bush, explore and mix with wildlife away from any vehicles, in safety, and in magnificent surroundings,” Mr Vigne said.

Mount Kenya Wildlife Estate sits on 1,000 acres of land on the eastern side of the 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta conservancy – some 10 kilometers west of Nanyuki town.

The estate comprises 100 single-storey 3-5 bedroom homes open for sale to buyers at Sh29.9 million and Sh33 million for the 3-bedroom and 5-bedroom respectively.

The luxury homes are centred around waterholes and salt licks – offering property owners abundant opportunities to view wildlife including water-bucks, giraffes and zebras.

“The design of the development and all planned activities will be wildlife-friendly, and there will be no internal fences – allowing the game to roam at will,” Ol Pejeta says on its website.

Home buyers will access a communal swimming pool, dedicated clubhouse, and cycling and walking tracks. They will also benefit from concessionary access to the wildlife conservancy through a private gate.
