Caterpillar, the world’s largest construction equipment manufacturer by sales, has launched eight new next-generation skid steer loaders (SSLs) and compact track loaders (CTLs) models, continuing its legacy of innovation.

The SSL line includes the 250, 260, 270, and 270 XE, while the CTL models include the 275, 275 XE, 285, and 285 XE, expanding on the 255 and 265 introduced in late 2023.

The Cat 285 and 285 XE, the largest CTLs Caterpillar has ever produced, offer greater lift height and tilt breakout forces, competing in a new size class.

According to Caterpillar, the new machines feature a “ground-up redesign that improves on the features that made the previous series popular.”

These models also signal another subtle shift in machine nomenclature for the company; the SSLs now end in “0” and the CTLs in “5,” with the middle number denoting machine size.

Trevor Chase, senior product consultant at Caterpillar, said, “We are excited to launch the next generation design for our skid steer loader line and expand the performance capabilities to more compact track loader models.”

Caterpillar is also integrating advanced technologies in real-time performance monitoring, progressive machine control systems, and fuel efficiency enhancement to help meet changing demands for modern construction projects.
