South Korean heavy equipment maker HD Hyundai has unveiled its largest excavators yet, the HX800A L and HX1000A L, designed for heavy-duty digging.

The 82-ton HX800A L has a 528-net-horsepower Perkins 2506J diesel engine and offers a maximum digging depth of 23 feet 4 inches. Its maximum digging reach is 38 feet.

The excavator’s arm crowd force is set at 72,300 pound-feet while the bucket breakout force stands at 75,400 pound-feet.

In contrast, the 100-ton HX1000A L is powered by a 620-net-horsepower Perkins 2806J diesel engine and has a maximum dig depth of 23 feet 10 inches.

Its maximum digging reach is 40 feet 9 inches.

HD Hyundai has set the excavator arm’s crowd force at 88,846 pound-feet and the bucket breakout force at 98,767 pound-feet.

The specs above are for the standard arm configuration, but both excavators offer additional boom and arm options to suit different materials.

The HX800A L excavator works with buckets that hold 4.5 to 7 cubic yards, while the HX1000A L excavator supports buckets that hold 7 to 8.9 cubic yards.

The machines feature three power modes—power, standard, and economy—and a smart system that adjusts engine power and hydraulic flow in real time.

Additionally, operators have been empowered to control two hydraulic pumps independently to optimize flow for different attachments.

HD Hyundai designed the cabs with Level 2 FOPS protection, vibration-damping mounts, air-suspension seats, selectable heat, and adjustable armrests.

The standard All-Around View Monitoring Camera provides 360-degree visibility of the jobsite and includes Intelligent Moving Object Detection to alert operators when objects or people come within 16 feet of the excavator.

Operators can use the 8-inch monitor for control menus, power settings, and hydraulic settings. The audio system features AM/FM radio, a USB MP3 player, Bluetooth, and a built-in microphone for calls.

A standard auto-travel alarm alerts nearby workers when the machine is moving forward or backward. It can be turned off with a switch.

Both the HX800A L and HX1000A L include five years of unlimited access to Hyundai’s HiMATE fleet management system.
