Work Underway on $2.1bn Tennessee Titans New Stadium
The New Nissan Stadium is well on schedule to open by 2027.
Construction is underway on the New Nissan Stadium—christened the Tennessee Titans New Stadium—in Nashville, a project set to redefine the city’s sports scene.
Work on the Titans New Stadium project kicked off in February and has made headway, with excavation halfway done and 30% of the structural columns installed.
The stadium, being built directly adjacent to the existing Nissan Stadium, is the centerpiece of a major East Bank development.
The Tennessee Builders Alliance is leading the construction, a joint venture of Turner Construction, AECOM Hunt, Polk & Associates, and ICF Builders & Consultants.
The management team behind this project has worked on a variety of NFL stadium projects, including SoFi Stadium in California and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
The construction process has reached several key milestones.
Over 500 of the planned 767 piers have been drilled, and the team is working on a 22-foot-tall Soil Nail Earth Retention System wall to support the stadium’s loading dock.
Additionally, a water cistern tank is being installed to collect nearly 100,000 gallons of rainwater, supporting the building’s sustainability efforts.
Concrete deck pours for some of the building’s concourses are ongoing, and foundation pits for vertical transportation are under construction.
“The New Titans Stadium is slowly taking form,” said an update from the Tennessee Titans. “Excavation of the site is halfway done, and about 30% of columns have already gone in.”
This development puts the stadium well on track to open by 2027.
The Titans stadium will feature a translucent roof, exterior porches with panoramic views of Nashville, and enhanced game views for all 60,000 seats.
The stadium will cover 1.8 million square feet.
Additionally, it will feature a 12,000-square-foot community event space.
Along with Tennessee State University football games and concerts, this stadium can be a site for the Super Bowl and major events such as the NCAA Final Four.
“With this project, we are going to set a new standard for stadium construction, safety practices, local business development, and community involvement,” says John Gromos, principal-in-charge for TBA.
The project is currently ahead of schedule, with the superstructure expected to start taking shape by the end of the year.

The new stadium will replace the current Nissan Stadium, which has been home to the Tennessee Titans since 1999.
The Titans will sign a 30-year lease that commits them to playing in the new stadium.
The current open-air concrete-and-steel stadium, with a capacity of 69,000, will be demolished once the new venue is ready.
Funding includes $840 million from the team, $500 million from Tennessee, and $760 million from revenue bonds repaid from seat licenses and stadium taxes.
This financing plan, confirmed by a 26-11 vote on April 25, 2023, would be the largest stadium subsidy in U.S. history.
