Caterpillar has unveiled three new hydraulic connecting CW quick couplers, which allow operators to quickly switch between hydraulic attachments from the operator’s cab.

The HCCW20, HCCW30, and HCCW40 hydraulic couplers are compatible with any Caterpillar hydraulic attachment, according to the heavy equipment maker.

The couplers fit tool carriers ranging from 7.5 to 27 tonnes.

“Each model offers a standard 10-tonne lift capacity, and exclusive Locking Control System feature and sensor technology measure locking wedge position and indicate coupling status to the operator,” Cat said in a press release.

Quick changes with the HCCW units allow operators to use the right attachment for the job, boosting productivity and tool utilization.

The hydraulic connecting interface allows for quick attachment swaps, saving time compared to static couplers or pin-on attachments. Designed and built to last, the field-proven CW coupler platform helps keep costs low for end-users.

Adhering to the European EN474 standard, various electronic and mechanical features ensure attachment security, even in case of pressure loss. Visual and audible cues inside the cab confirm successful attachment connections.

“The new HCCW design features enhanced hydraulic flow to reduce hydraulic restriction, minimizing heat build-up and reducing the amount of engine power required for operation,” Caterpillar added.

Precision-machined and sized to ensure the best flow, the couplings allow hydraulic attachments to work to their full potential with minimal back pressure.

Their reliable hydraulic hookups eliminate spills while changing attachments. Still, the quick disconnect makes it easier to keep them working and last longer.

Caterpillar excavator fleets that already operate CW hinges do not necessitate machine retrofit to the latest HCCW models.

Buckets and other implements transfer conveniently between the current CW and current HCCW models.

The new Hydraulic Coupling brackets make it easier to operate auxiliary tools, such as shears, hammers, and grapples.

Hoses running inside the coupler and bracket are well protected. This minimises the chances of hose damage and eventually reduces hose costs and repair bills.

Because they share the same durable quick-coupler design, with male and female quick disconnects, they assure only the best performance.

Cover lids and seals help keep the couplings well protected, which keeps the hydraulic system contamination-free.
