Arabian Machinery & Heavy Equipment Company (AMHEC) has made a historic order with Saudi Liebherr as it seeks to meet rising demand from customers.

AMHEC, one of Saudi Arabia’s largest providers of crane rentals, has ordered a record 55 new Liebherr mobile cranes, setting a new standard in the industry.

This marks the largest order ever received by Saudi Liebherr. It includes cranes from five up to nine axles, with lifting capacities from 100 to 800 tonnes.

The largest wheeled crane in the order is the massive LTM 1750-9.1, which represents AMHEC’s first acquisition of a nine-axle crane.

According to AMHEC chief executive, Abdullah Al-Suwaiket, the new cranes are a valuable addition to the company and a significant factor in its growth ambitions.

“We already have numerous cranes with a lifting capacity between 50 and 500 tonnes. We are now proud to also complete our fleet with a nine-axle crane so that we can fulfil all orders for our customers,” he said.

The order includes the following crane models: LTM 1100-5.3, LTM 1110-5.2, LTM 1160-5.2, LTM 1230 5.1, LTM 1250-5.1, LTM 1300-6.3, LTM 1450-8.1, LTM 1650-8.1 and LTM 1750-9.1.

Initial deliveries from this order are anticipated to arrive in the Kingdom later in the year, boosting the company’s total fleet to more than 400 cranes.

“We are looking forward to receiving our new cranes. Each crane has its advantages. Some models also include great improvements,” Al-Suwaiket added.

Ajanthas Kumarathas, branch manager and head of division at Saudi Liebherr Co. expressed excitement about delivering such a large number of cranes to AMHEC.

“Since 1983 Liebherr has consistently demonstrated to its customers in Saudi Arabia its reliability as a partner. This track record is the foundation upon which customers, including AMHEC, rely on, and extend the partnership further,” he said.

The record-breaking order reflects the rising global demand for mega cranes, driven by investors seeking solutions for tasks that require large lifting capacities.

This is evident at sites such as the Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station in the UK, a semiconductor plant in Phoenix, AZ, and a refinery in India, among others.

The cranes utilised for these projects include Sarens SGC-250, the Manitowoc 31000 and the Mammoet PTC210-DS, respectively.

“Demand is increasing for mega cranes in the United States,” says Kate Lampson, an executive of Lampson International. “We are starting to see an uptick in requests for our Lampson Transi-Lift in several industries.”
