Every year, Builder magazine publishes its annual list of the top 100 home construction companies in the U.S. based on closings, which include single-family rentals.

Here is how the top 10 home builders performed last year:

1. D R Horton | Texas

2022 revenue: $32.7 billion

2022 closings: 82,930

D.R. Horton, Inc., a home-building company based in Arlington, Texas, has been the largest home builder in the U.S. by volume since 2002. 

The Delaware-incorporated company operates four brands: D.R. Horton, Emerald Homes, Express Homes, and Freedom Homes.

The Emerald Homes brand provides luxury real estate, while Express Homes caters to entry-level buyers. Freedom Homes caters to the active adult community.
